ELTSA Appropriate Body

ELTSA NQT Appropriate Body

ELTSA is an Appropriate Body (AB) for the Professional Induction of Newly Qualified Teachers. The appointment of an AB  is a statutory requirement for the induction period of NQTs and the AB makes the final decision as to whether an NQT has met the Teachers’ Standards on the recommendation of the Head teacher/Principal.

We work with both primary and secondary schools, within and outside of our alliance.

As the Appropriate Body ELTSA will:

  • Deliver its statutory duties as the AB

  • Register NQTs with the AB and the Teaching Regulation Agency and inform the school if the NQT has not been registered correctly

  • Read/review and quality assure assessment reports every term

  • Carry out quality assurance visits

  • Liaise with schools and provide relevant information and advice on NQT induction procedures, statutory guidance and NQTs causing concern.

  • Maintain records and assessment reports online

  • Provide NQT training based on packages provided

ELTSA provides an NQT programme for all NQTs to attend. Sample sessions include:

  • Subject Specific Training

  • Behaviour Management

  • Questioning

  • High Challenge

"Good examples from a variety of experienced  teachers"

"Fantastic session, multiple opportunities to review metacognition and lazy teaching from different perspectives. I took a lot from this session that I will apply to my practice"
