Advanced-Level Physics at St Angela's
Advanced Level physics has returned to St Angela's after a 'leave of absence'. Mr Crook has joined the science department from a successful Somerset Physics department as 'co-ordinator of Physics'. Being a Technology College, the school has invested £5000 in Physics equipment, enabling a high quality of practical work and demonstration experiences.
The Advanced Level Course we are following is the 'Edexcel Physics' course. the specification used along with exemplar questions and answers and a 'Student Guide' are shown on the Edexcel Web site
The course will be taught by Mr Crook and Mr Barrett of St Bonaventure's School and incorporates:
- Mechanics
- Radioactivity
- Electricity
- Thermodynamics
- Particle Physics
- Waves and our Universe
- Fields and Forces
- Practical work
We are hoping to take Year 12 to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire, to complement the understanding of Particle Physics. http:\\www.rl.ac.uk
This is on top of visits to local university departments, visiting speakers and, of course, the 'British Physics Olympiad.' http:\\www.star.le.ac.uk
