WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY AS/A LEVEL?

AS PSYCHOLOGY

We follow the new AQA A AS specification, covering four modules in the year. There are two exams that are sat for the AS, with the opportunity for a January entry for the first unit.

Cognitive, Developmental and Research Methods This module gives the opportunity to discover the key areas in cognitive and developmental psychology; including memory retention and loss and the impact of day care on young children. Consistently running through the module is the focus on research methods, which will be explicitly examined on.

Biological, Social and Individual Differences  This module covers an overview of the key areas of research in the above units; including stress, social abnormality and the problems of diagnosing mental illness and abnormality.

Psychology as a Science Psychology has been reclassified officially as a science now so there is a great deal of emphasis on this from the curriculum; you will need to understand the importance of science within the context of Psychology.
