What can parents expect from the school?

- A polite response. It is helpful if parents reciprocate.
- Quick decisive action with any unruly students.

- An environment in which your child will feel safe.
How the school expects parents to support their child’s education.
Ensure your child understands the behaviour expected of her at school and support the school in its maintenance of high standards of behaviour.Report to us with any concerns about your child’s welfare and work via the form tutor or Year Head.Encourage excellent attendance and punctuality, and do not organise holidays in school time. Send in a covering letter promptly after any absence.Provide a distraction free environment for homework.Check and sign your child’s planner at least once a week and take an active interest in what it reveals.Familiarise yourself with the meaning of National Curriculum Levels, GCSE grades and GNVQ levels. Ask teachers to explain if necessary.Show a particular interest in your child’s development by asking about their work.Attend parents meetings and other activities and functions organised by the school, especially those in which your child is involved.Do not rely on them for the child care of other siblings.Ensure they have breakfast each day, lunch or lunch money, and have a bottle of water for school.Ensure they have and wear the full correct school uniform.
What standards of behaviour are expected of our students.
Students are required to:
Always wear the full official school uniform and heed the restrictions on jewellery.Behave in a manner that enables everyone to feel safe, secure and happy. Aggressive or threatening behaviour or bullying will not be tolerated.Behave in a manner that enables every teacher to teach and every student to learn. Students who disrupt lessons will be removed and their parents contacted.Respect all resources in the school. All school property and equipment should be properly and carefully treated. Downloading of inappropriate material from ICT resources is a very serious matter which could lead to serious disciplinary action.
How students can get the best from themselves, their tutors and teachers.
Be punctual for school and for lessons. Students must be in school by 8:45 am at the latest.Always complete homework and hand it in on time.Report any unacceptable behaviour either towards yourself or someone else. Never tolerate a bully. Tell your Form Tutor or Year Head.Support your friends by taking part in team and group activities, during and after school.Take advantage of the study support sessions after school that are organised for you.Work hard and always ask for help if you encounter a difficulty.Take care of your equipment and respect other people’s belongings.Always have your planner with you.Always be polite in your discussions with teachers and other students.
To help you achieve your best, your teacher will:
Value you, listen to you and help you.Give you regular information on how you are progressing and what you need to do to improve.Recognise your efforts and achievements by positive comments and rewards.Provide you with opportunities and to extend your knowledge and experience in your academic subjects and also in sporting, musical and cultural activities.
