Careers Information, Education and Guidance is delivered to all students in Year 9 - 13. Time is allocated to it with the overall framework of the Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme. In Year 10 and 11 it also forms part of the Self and Environment vocational context of the Diploma of Vocational Education at Foundation level. Arrangements in the Sixth Form follow a similar pattern. The main focus in Year 9 is placed on the preparation of students for making their choice of option subjects for Key Stage 4. They are introduced to the resources of the Careers Library, including the range of computer programmes available, and are taught how to use them. At the end of the year they attend a Compact Launch, when they work with representatives from the world of business to develop their teamwork and action planning skills; this event is organised through the Newham Education Business Partnership.

In Year 10 students prepare for their two-week work experience placement. Although this normally takes place in the Summer Term of Year 10 or during the Autumn Term of Year 11, preparations begin early in the Autumn Term of Year 10. Two other events are organised for them through the Newham Education Business Partnership, a BOSS Day (Building Opportunities Skills Seminar) and a Mock Interview Day, in both of which representatives of the business world take an important role.

Progression is the major theme for Year 11, when students have to make decisions about whether to continue in full time education (either in the Sixth Form or in another post 16 institution) or to start training for employment, generally through the Network or Modern Apprenticeship schemes. Students continuing in education make their choice of subjects from A level (including AS level) and GNVQ courses.
