2008 is the National Year of Reading (NYR), a year-long celebration of reading in all its forms. It aims to increase awareness of the many values of reading – anything, anytime, anyplace – for children, families and adult learners alike. The TLC is fully behind the NYR and we are involved in a run of activities, author visits and book fairs to promote reading within the school.

Twice a year we host a book fair in the TLC. This has proved to be very popular with the students, as we are giving them the opportuntity to buy new books; the school also benefits from getting free books for the TLC.

These are some of the authors that have been in to talk to students at St. Angela’s. The visits generate enthusiasm amongst the students and there is always increased interest in the author’s books after the visit and any other books they have recommended!
