Please note:
a. Application forms provided by Newham Education Department indicating preference of secondary school must be sent to the London Borough of Newham, Pupil Services Section, Education Department, Broadway House, 322 High Street, Stratford, London E15 1AJ by the closing date of 24th October 2008.
b. Application forms for St. Angela’s should be returned to the school. These will be provided by the Education Department or in the case of feeder primary schools of Newham by the feeder schools.
Copies of Baptism and First Holy Communion Certificates must be attached to this application form.
The closing date for the forms is Monday, 9th December 2008.
c. Newham residents only should complete the Newham CAF. This includes those whose children attend school outside of the Borough. Non-Newham residents must apply through their own Local Authority. They can either obtain the Pink St Angela’s application form from the school or contact Newham’s Pupil Service Section to be sent one. Newham residents should return the Yellow CAF to Pupil Services by 24th October 2008 and the pink St Angela’s Application form together with photocopies of Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates to St Angela’s by Monday 9th December 2008. Non-Newham residents should return their own borough’s CAF to their local authority and the Pink Application form together with photocopies of Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates to St Angela’s by Monday 9th December 2008.
d. Catholic applicants will be required to support their application with a Parish Priest reference, which will confirm practice. This should be sent under separate cover by the Parish Priest and not by the applicant.
Non Catholic applicants must also arrange for their minister/faith leader to send a letter confirming their practice to the school.
e. The Governors require parents to submit proof of residence by attaching a copy of their most recent Council Tax bill, Housing Benefit or Council Tenancy Agreement with their application form together with a recent utility bill. NO OTHER FORMS ARE ACCEPTABLE.
Applicants who not produce a parish priest’s reference/minister’s supporting letter with their application will not qualify within their respective category and should not assume an offer of a place.
N.B. Applicants are requested to note that applications will be invalid unless BOTH the forms described above have been completed and received at the correct addresses.
TIMETABLES
1. Parents will be advised of the outcome of their application on 2nd March 2009, National Offer Day. Unsuccessful applicants who wish to be placed on St. Angela’s waiting list must write to the school within 14 days.
2. Parents wishing to Appeal must do so in writing 14 days after receipt of their letter.
APPEALS PROCEDURE
- Parent(s) may appeal to Chair of Governors in writing, within 14 days of receiving a letter letting them know they are unsuccessful in their application stating the grounds for the appeal.
- The appeal will be heard by an independent appeal panel, which will be made up of three people, none of whom have any connection with the school and one of whom will be a lay person. The lay person is someone who is aware of educational issues but is not directly involved with education.
- The Appeals Panel will accept representation from any interested parties in writing or in person at the appeal hearing.
ADMISSION TO SIXTH FORM
The Sixth form is available for existing pupils fulfilling the requirements of the sixth form admission criteria. Remaining places in the sixth form of the school will be distributed in accordance with the over subscription criteria, subject to applicants fulfilling the individual requirements of suitable courses.
